This week’s article is from ECM expert Alan Pelz-Sharpe.
For Alan, there is value in new ECM 2.0 systems – the use of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), the leveraging of cloud platform building blocks and even blockchain.
He argues that older technologies should not be automatically jettisoned, however. He notes that 2.0 systems follow a ‘DIY ECM’ path, which is risky, plus cloud isn’t always cheaper and better, while ML and AI are challenging areas to master.
Finally, while ECM 1.0 has issues, it took decades to understand best practices here – and there is a real danger in trying to reinvent the wheel.
